Glass helices
We manufacture glass helices in a variety of geometric shapes. These include the classic round shape, as well as square, rectangular or triangular forms. All glass helices have a wound glass rod that continues in a circular, longitudinal direction. Various gradients are possible, as are a variety of wall thicknesses and diameters.
Dimensions
To date, we have produced glass helices for our customers in the following shapes:
- round, oval
- square, rectangular
- triangular
- hexagon
The internal diameter of the helices is important and can be anything from 2 mm to 20 mm. Larger diameters are also possible thanks to the use of new tools. The diameter of the coiled rod can be very thin to very thick and is related to the diameter and gradient of the helices.
Material
Borosilicate glass is a material of very high quality. It is chemically extremely resistant and is also very easily formed. Borosilicate glass also has a high thermal shock resistance and is transparent. Other specific properties of this glass can be found in our technical specifications.
Properties
Helices and springs made from glass boast an impressive flexibility. Because of their wall thickness and shape, they can be very easily bent and knotted. This is even the case for larger diameters. Glass helices achieve a high degree of elasticity for glass standards and can even be compressed and stretched. These properties may be influenced by the gradient and diameter of the rod.
SPECIAL
We have already manufactured special customer-specific solutions for this product group. Further examples of special products can be found under the respective product category or under Special Solutions.
Cooling coils & spiral lines made of glass
In addition to our popular full-glass helices, which are used as packing in the chemical industry, we also produce hollow glass coils, used as cooling coils in laboratory equipment and chemical plants. Capillaries as well as tubes made of borosilicate glass 3.3 can be used in their production. Depending on the diameter, different end lengths of the coils are possible.
